Final Project: “Between two worlds”

My photo project is about the life of international student-athletes living on campus. It will show what it feels like to be far from home while working hard every day in school and sports. I chose this topic because I think many people don’t really understand how hard it is for these students. They train early in the morning, go to classes all day, and still try to stay connected with their families in another country. They feel proud, but also tired, lonely, and sometimes homesick.

The main purpose of this project is to capture not only our daily routines but also our unique perspective as international students, especially the emotional moments like saying goodbye to teammates, friends, and coaches who have been with us through the entire journey and why we might not see again for a long time, since we are all from different countries.

I want to show all of that through my pictures. I will take 8 photos in black & white, photographing different student-athletes and capturing real moments like playing sports, senior day, working, eating in the cafeteria, or calling home on their phones. All the pictures will be taken around campus. The lighting and style will stay the same, so the story feels connected.

My goal is for people to understand that these students are strong but also human. They carry a lot on their shoulders, and behind their busy schedule there is a person doing their best every day.
